Reliable information and electric networks are the heart of functioning IT infrastructure. As the global leader in its field, Elecster Oyj relies on Exlan for developing their properties. We have for example built the information networks, modernized the electric networks, and built an automated lighting system and a camera surveillance system at their corporation headquarters as well as their Reisjärvi factory.

Elecster, founded in 1966, is a Finnish publicly traded company that designs, manufactures, and markets processing lines and packaging materials for UHT milk. The cooperation between Exlan and Elecster began in 2017 with the Cat6A copper network cabling and optical fiber cabling of the information networks at the Akaa headquarters and the Reisjärvi factory, and the renewal of the networking cabinets. Previous networks had been implemented with chained switches, resulting in numerous problems. With the renovation, the disruptions and slow transmit speeds became a thing of the past. The new practical and carefully documented information networks serve their purpose and are easy to maintain.

– Exlan’s work is of excellent quality. Bits no longer get lost on the way, data travels fast. The networking cabinets are clean and clearly marked so that we know where each cable goes, says Elecster’s CIO Juuso Halonen.

Diverse expertise in property development

After the successful network projects, Elecster also entrusted Exlan with the modernization of its electric network. The power loads of the electric cabinets are now more evenly distributed, and the reliability of the electric network has been improved. At the same time, the UPS backup power system was upgraded to a more efficient version, so there is more time to shut down servers for example in the event of a power outage. Next, Exlan installed a KNX building automation-based control system at the Akaa factory. The system controls lighting, snow-melt systems in the yard, gates, and more. The latest project is an overhaul of the camera surveillance systems used at Elecster properties.

– Exlan knows the potential of information and electrical networks. Automated lighting is a practical solution that saves energy. Exlan’s idea of a snow-melt system in the yard was an important investment in safety. As for the camera surveillance system, we replaced all the most important cameras and added a few more, Juuso explains.

Moving forward together

Exlan will keep Elecster up to date on the opportunities related to property development in the future. The keywords in building a trustworthy cooperation are a customer-oriented approach and a job well done.
